Issue No. 5 opens on a fog-wrapped lighthouse standing watch over a rocky coastline and closes on a neon coffee shop sign glowing against a rain-slicked street — in between, snow clings to Mount Rainier's summit above a stand of dark pines, a welded steel sculpture at the NC Museum of Art catches a dusky pink sunset, and downtown Raleigh's skyline glitters beneath a star-filled winter sky.
